Your journey of the North Route begins at The Chedi Muscat, where you ease into the rhythm of Oman in a setting of refined elegance. From there, you head into the heart of the desert to the Canvas Club Camp, nestled in the golden dunes of Wahiba Sands.
The route then leads south toward the coast, where the striking white Sugar Dunes of Khaluf meet the Arabian Sea—an otherworldly stretch of sand shaped by wind and waves.
This route promises a blend of natural beauty, luxury, and adventure, showcasing the diverse landscapes of Oman. The adventure continues inland as you cross the vast Rub' al Khali, the Empty Quarter. This is the wild heart of Oman—towering dunes, endless silence, and nights under a star-filled sky. The desert challenges you, inspires you, and leaves lasting impressions.

After days in the sands, the landscape transforms once again as you ascend into the Hajar Mountains. At 2,000 meters above sea level, the Alila Jabal Akhdar offers a peaceful retreat with panoramic canyon views and cool mountain air.

The final chapter of your journey takes you back to Muscat. Here, you can relax, reflect, and savor the memories of a journey through Oman’s most iconic and awe-inspiring landscapes.

Your journey begins with one night in Muscat, the capital city of Oman. Take the time to explore the city, visit its historic old town, the impressive Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque, and the lively souks. Be enchanted by the cultural diversity and charm of Muscat.

From Muscat to Canvas Club

After breakfast, drive into the desert and reach the Canvas Club Desert Camp. Experience the authentic beauty of the Omani desert and enjoy the comfort and hospitality of this exclusive camp. Spend the night in a luxurious tent under the starry sky.

DAY 3

Sugar Dunes by the Ocean

After breakfast, your journey truly takes off. The day starts with your first real off-road challenge. The Wahiba Sands offer an ideal environment for getting your bearings—rolling dunes paired with clear rules. Here, you begin to master convoy driving, build confidence in your vehicle, and develop a sense of unity with your group.

On your way, you’ll spot a solitary mosque rising from the emptiness, and a humble roadside stop marked only by a few fuel barrels.

Then, the unexpected: the sea appears. Towering dunes give way to shimmering shoreline, and the landscape shifts once more. As if out of a dream, the brilliant white sugar dunes of Khaluf come into view. It’s here that you pitch camp for the night.

DAY 4-6

Desert Exploration

You turn your back on the coast and venture inland. A stretch of 350 kilometers lies ahead—remote, raw, and vast. With each kilometer, the familiar fades into memory. By late afternoon, you stop for fuel one final time. Beyond that point, there’s only stillness.

You arrive at the northern reaches of the Rub al Khali.
But this so-called “void” is rich with wonder. Light plays across the dunes, and the wind has sculpted the sand into silent masterpieces.

In the coming days, you traverse the northern fringe of the Empty Quarter—an arena of towering dunes and ever-shifting lines. The terrain flows from soft valleys to sharp crests, bathed in gold. You move forward, sometimes faltering, sometimes laughing, always amazed. It’s a journey of rhythm and reverence, deep in the soul of the desert.

From the desert, drive into the majestic mountains of the Al Hajar range and check into the Alila Jabal Akhdar. Enjoy two nights in this luxurious mountain resort known for its spectacular views and first-class amenities. Take the opportunity to explore the impressive nature of the surroundings and join guided hikes.

DAY 6-8

On your final day, you descend from the serene mountain landscapes and make your way back to where it all began – The Chedi Muscat. Take this last opportunity to relax, reflect, and soak in the memories before your journey comes to an end and you head home.
